Students and families in Bendigo will benefit from a $4.8 million investment in Kalianna Special School under a re-elected Coalition Government, Minister for Education Martin Dixon announced today.
Mr Dixon made the election commitment during a visit to Kalianna Special School with the Member for Northern Victoria Amanda Millar and the Liberal candidate for Bendigo West Michael Langdon and Liberal candidate for Bendigo East Greg Bickley.
“The Napthine Government is building better schools for all Victorian students and I’m delighted to announce a $4.8 million upgrade of Kalianna Special School if the Coalition Government is returned,” Mr Dixon said.
The funding will allow the school to significantly modernise and upgrade its facilities to support the learning needs of students and support high quality teaching.
Ms Millar said the Napthine Government has a clear record of delivering high quality educational infrastructure.
“The Victorian Coalition Government is proud to be delivering 24 new schools, and upgrades to hundreds of schools, like Kalianna Special School,” Ms Millar said.
Mr Langdon said students in Bendigo were already benefiting from the Victorian Coalition Government’s $1.1 billion investment in school infrastructure since 2011.
“The Napthine Government has already delivered $25.6 million in Bendigo West, including $12.5 million for Castlemaine Secondary College, $11.5 million for Golden Square Primary School and $1.1 million for Winters Flat Primary School,” Mr Langdon said.
“As a school community, Kalianna Special School should be proud of the quality education it delivers, and its strong advocacy on behalf their students and families. The Napthine Government is committed to supporting the school by providing this new infrastructure.
“If the Napthine Government is re-elected in November, I look forward to working with the school community to continue our positive investment in education in Bendigo West.”
The Napthine Government is building a better education system, with a record $9.2 billion for school education in 2014-15, $1 billion more than Labor’s last budget in 2010.
