$220,000 for educational programs outside the classroom

The Napthine Government is investing $220,000 to support Bendigo not-for-profit groups to run extra-curricular educational programs for school students.
Liberal candidate for Bendigo West Michael Langdon and Liberal candidate for Bendigo East Greg Bickley welcomed the total of $220,000 in funding for two Bendigo organisations.
The two recipients in Bendigo are;
Mr Langdon said the funding from the Napthine Government will provide essential support to local groups to run educational programs that expand students’ horizons outside the classroom.
“This funding from the Victorian Coalition Government is ensuring that local students will get the most out of our local attractions,” Mr Langdon said.
Mr Bickley said that the Napthine Government was pleased to support some of Bendigo’s greatest attractions for young people, the Bendigo Art Gallery and the Discovery Science and Technology Centre.
“Providing students from Bendigo and across Victoria with new and exciting opportunities outside the school gate is a great way for them to learn,” Mr Bickley said.
This investment in Bendigo is part of the Napthine Government’s $16.2 million Strategic Partnership Program to be run over three years.
The Strategic Partnership Program provides funding to more than 80 not-for-profit organisations in Victoria to deliver programs that boost student achievement, engagement, and health and wellbeing.

This program is another example of how the Coalition Government is building a better education system for all Victorian students, with a record $9.2 billion for school education in 2014-15, $1 billion more than Labor’s last budget in 2010.
