Spring Gully united over $100,000 pavilion investment

Spring Gully United Soccer Club is celebrating following today’s announcement of $100,000 in funding to upgrade and extend the soccer pavilion at the Spring Gully Recreation Reserve.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Damian Drum and Liberal candidate for Bendigo East Greg Bickley today visited the home of the Spring Gully United Soccer Club to announce the funding from the Victorian Coalition Government’s Community Facility Funding Program.

“Sporting clubs like Spring Gully United are the lifeblood of their communities, providing improved health and social outcomes for all ages,” Mr Drum said.

“With demand for local soccer on the rise throughout Victoria, the club’s pavilion has been struggling to cope.

“The pavilion extension means the club will be able to cater for an increasing number of players and teams, especially through growth in juniors and females keen to play the world game,” Mr Drum said.

The project will upgrade the existing change rooms, and extend the pavilion to include new accessible change, referee and first aid rooms as well as modern amenities.

“The Coalition Government is committed to a more active and healthy Victoria. By investing in facilities like these, we’re enabling sports clubs to cater for more participants, which results in improved health and social outcomes that benefit Victoria as a whole,” Mr Drum said.

Mr Bickley thanked funding partners Greater Bendigo City Council for its $258,000 contribution towards the project as well as the Spring Gully United Soccer Club for its $27,000 contribution.

“Over the past four years the Coalition Government has invested over $140 million across a range of programs in 850 community sports facility projects like this, resulting in over $598 million of new local sporting infrastructure for Victorians,” Mr Bickley said.

“A re-elected Coalition Government will continue this commitment to community sport in Bendigo and across Victoria.”
