The Epsom Huntly community received a boost today with Liberal Candidate for Bendigo East announcing that a re-elected Napthine Government will invest in significant upgrades at the Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve.
“A re-elected Napthine Government will build a playground for local families and install traffic lights at the intersection of the Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve and Midland Highway,” said Mr Bickley.
“The Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve continues to grow in popularity with various sporting groups using the facilities. As more families use the facility, it is important that we make these improvements to service the community’s needs.
“Families often have some children playing sport, whilst their siblings are too young to participate. It can often be a challenge to keep the younger ones occupied, so this playground will be a great asset for families.
“As the Epsom facility gets busier, there is also the increased need to improve road safety to keep families safe.
“There is a huge volume of traffic using the Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve and it is vital that we ensure the safety of visitors as they enter and leave the facility given its close proximity to a busy highway.”
In 2012 the Napthine Government officially opened the $3.2 million pavilion at the Epsom Reserve and announced $100,000 towards new lighting in 2013.
“The Napthine Liberals remain committed to investing in the infrastructure that the Epsom – Huntly growth corridor needs and building a stronger, healthier and more active local community,” said Mr Bickley.
